Recycling Transition

Southwest New Brunswick Service Commission would like to make our residents aware of upcoming changes to curbside recycling collection services.  As of May 1, 2024 our recycling program will be managed by Circular Materials, the administrator of the common collection system and a not-for-profit organization that is committed to building an efficient and effective recycling system in New Brunswick.

Circular Materials (Advancing the circular economy - Circular Materials) will now responsible for implementing and managing the new extended producer responsibility recycling system in New Brunswick (What is extended producer responsibility? - Circular Materials)

What do residents need to know about their curbside recycling collection?

  • As of May 1, collection schedules and curbside collection will be managed and implemented by private contractors. Details about the changes are expected to be communicated by Circular Materials in the coming days.

  • The Southwest New Brunswick recycling app, online calendar, and reminder system will no longer be available for determining your pickup days as of May 1, 2024.

  • There will be no changes to the types of materials that can be recycled under the new program.

  • The change comes because of the Province of New Brunswick’s expansion of the EPR program to paper and packaging under the Designated Materials Regulation and is being implemented in municipalities throughout the province.
