Household Hazardous Waste

Southwest New Brunswick Service Commission has a permanent HHW Depot at the Hemlock Knoll Landfill Site in Lawrence Station. This disposal facility allows the public to remove the hazardous items from their homes in an environmentally friendly manner.

WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO

  1. Upon arrival at the landfill, report to the scale operator that you are delivering HHW
  2. You will then be directed to the HHW depot
  3. Items should be delivered to the HHW depot in their original containers
  4. Please do not mix HHW products!
  5. Always transport HHW containers in an upright position

Cleaners
Pool Chemicals, Oven Cleaner, Bleach, Rug Cleaners, All-purpose Cleaner, Toilet Bowl Acid, Disinfectants, Acids for cleaning

Automotive
Gas, Antifreeze, Transmission Fluid, Diesel Fuel, Oil, Brake Fluid

Pesticides
Insecticides, Roach Killers, Flea Collars/Sprays, Rat/Mouse Poison, ant killers, Fly killers, Fertilizers

Paints
Latex Paints, Oil Based Paints, Solvents, Turpentine, Thinners, Preservatives

Polishes
Silver, Brass, Chrome and Furniture Polish

Miscellaneous
Batteries, Propane Tanks, Art Supplies and Aerosol Cans

Items NOT Accepted at the HHW Depot

  • Marine Flares
  • Radioactive Materials
  • Industrial or Commercial HHW
  • More than 25 Litres of Motor Oil
  • Medication or Prescription Drugs
  • Sharps
  • Explosives
  • Fireworks
  • Pathological/Biological Waste
  • Ammunition
