Regional Services

In November 2021, the government of New Brunswick published their plan for local governance reform in a white paper entitled "Working Together for Vibrant and Sustainable Communities". Legislation was created to support the goals of that document, that included the requirement of Regional Service Commissions to develop a regional strategy aimed at identifying the strengths and gaps in the region and at establishing priorities and actions, especially with respect to the new and additionally mandated functions.

The new regional services provided by the Southwest New Brunswick Service Commission include Economic Development, Tourism Promotion, Community Development, Regional Transportation (community transit), Recreational Infrastructure Cost-Sharing and the establishment of a Public Safety Committee.
